Chaplain Joseph F. Bannon, Ph.D., DMS, CPWO received his Doctorate Degree in Theocentric Clinical Psychology from Saint Mark Seminary and College which is accredited by the Eastern Orthodox Catholic Church - SRO Department of Education. In 2006 an ordination and blessing was bestowed upon him as a Theocentric Healer by the Synod of Governing Bishops. He remained a licensed member in good standing with the Commission on Religious Counseling and Healing for (38) years (Commission License - 1404). After three decades of study, research, practice, and program development, he was awarded a second doctorate degree and a graduate school professorship in the philosophy of Applied Psychophysiology relative to military, police, and first responder combat trauma psychology.
He is certified as a Senior Police Chaplain by the California Commission on Peace Officer Standards and Training (P.O.S.T.), through The California Practical Chaplain Association (CPCA). As a Critical Incident Stress (PTSD) Debriefer, he is certified by the State of California, The (CPCA), and The Ontario Critical Incident Stress Foundation.
He served (12) years with the San Francisco Police Department’s Behavioral Science Unit and Peer Counseling Group as a Critical Incident Stress Debriefer for military veterans, police officers, and their families. For twenty years he has helped military veterans with PTSD and other stress related issues but currently focuses his efforts to assist law enforcement officers and other first responders, as he feels the psychological and physical needs of these subcultures have severely increased due to negative cultural shifts of society’s "Anti Cop” sentiments and perceptions over the past several years.
He is a current member in good standing as a “Professor Emeritus” with the National Academy of Neuropsychology, as well as the American Association of Christian Counselors, the College of Certified Psychophysiologists, and The Association for Applied Psychophysiology and Biofeedback.
Chaplain Bannon is available as a guest or special event speaker within your congregation at your church, seminary, school, college, military or law enforcement organization, or offsite meeting location.
